Job Title: Chinese Business Association (CBA) Assistant Intern
Team: Member Relationship
Responsible to: Chinese Business Association (CBA) Executive
The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is a membership organisation made up of around 2500 companies of all sizes and sectors, in every borough in London. The Chamber delivers a range of products and services for its members, and other businesses within London, including networking events, training seminars, business support and advice.
Our objective is to ensure that London (specifically member) businesses are better able to compete both at home and overseas. The vibrancy and dynamism of our capital must be maintained to enable us to keep attracting new business and entrepreneurs to London and to continue creating jobs, providing world-class services and excelling in trade and exports.
The Chinese Business Association (CBA) is a section within the London Chamber of Commerce which was set up in 2011 to reflect the increasing number of Chinese businesses operating in the UK and to provide them with a support network for doing business in the capital.
Membership of the CBA is through membership of the Chamber and will give companies a tailored series of networking and other events as well as full access to the full benefits of LCCI membership.
The CBA’s objectives are to:
• Provide Chinese-origin businesses with a London business network with an annual event programme with introductions to LCCI members and other companies, and access to opportunities to enhance their commercial skills and business competiveness
• Give new Chinese investors in London an understanding of the London business set-up
• Provide a voice for the Chinese business community and represent their views to the media, and local and central government

Purpose of the role
To assist the Chinese Business Association Executive in recruiting and retaining businesses to the CBA and LCCI.
Key responsibilities
• Research and update information on Chinese businesses in London and the south east, collecting information from the internet or by making calls
• Prepare information packs on businesses for the CBA executive
• Make appointments for the CBA executive to visit members, and prospective members – by phone and by email
• Help raise awareness of the CBA events and encourage attendance – by phone and by email
• Ensure all potential CBA members are fully recorded and attributed on the Chamber’s database
• Provide a round-up of topical and relevant business news for the enewsletter
• Prepare bilingual letters/literature/packs/webpages
• Present a welcoming and professional image of the CBA and LCCI
• Represent the LCCI at CBA events, and other events if required
• Acquire a good general knowledge of the CBA and LCCI services
• Help with other administrative tasks for the team
• Deliver first-class customer service and support to all customers
Skills and Aptitude
Fluent Mandarin and very good English
Professional, positive and enthusiastic attitude
Knowledge of Chinese business, customs and culture
Excellent telephone manner and outbound calling skills
Good, accurate written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Self-development and learning
Tact and diplomacy
Organisational and administrative ability
Time management and prioritisation
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Proficient with databases
