Virtual Careers in China Fair, 09-13 November 2009
IntroductionThe Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services in Scotland (AGCAS(S)), a representative organisation for all university careers services in Scotland, has obtained funding from the Scottish Government in order to deliver a virtual careers in China fair. The main objective of the event is to support students and graduates who wish to pursue employment opportunities in China by giving them direct contact with graduate employers in China.
What are virtual careers fairs?Virtual fairs take place on a web-based platform upon which are gathered a number of software tools including a vacancy database, an e-guidance facility, a CV bank and online chat rooms.
Using these tools allows students to:
Access information on graduate employers and their graduate opportunities
Participate in live online question and answer sessions with employers
Seek advice from professional careers advisers
Submit applications
When does it take place? The fair runs from the 9th to 13th of November. Employer chats will be offered each day along with e-guidance sessions with careers advisers.
Why participate in virtual careers fairs? Participation is FREE OF CHARGE and represents an extremely efficient way of exploring careers options in China and applying for vacancies without the expense of an overseas trip. Additionally, each employer taking part recognises the added value provided by a Scottish education.
Which employers will participate? There has been a significant interest from employers in China. Large international companies like Atkins, KPMG, Heng An Standard Life, Standard Chartered, Adgen Biotechnology Ltd, Arup, Lehman Brown, Lovells, Neusoft, BRSIA and Tesco Property Ltd have already signed up to take part.
